Description
Two actions in the district court for St. Louis county, consolidated for trial and heard together on appeal, one by Jeanne M. Leman to recover for personal injuries and the other by Edward J. Leman, her husband, to recover consequential damages, arising out of a collision between a car driven by defendant Margaret Orr in which plaintiff wife was a passenger and a car owned by defendant William James McHardy and driven by defendant Helen McHardy, his wife, at a point where defendant Alex E. Leonard had allegedly parked a truck owned by defendant Standard Oil Company. The cases were tried before Mark Nolan, Judge, and a jury, which returned a verdict for $21,500 for Jeanne M. Leman and for $3,000 for Edward J. Leman against defendant Margaret Orr. The court directed verdicts for defendants Helen and William James McHardy, and the jury found in favor of defendants Standard Oil Company and Alex E. Leonard. From an order granting plaintiffs' motion for a new trial, defendants Standard Oil Co. and Alex E. Leonard appealed. AUTHOR: GALLAGHER
